Academic Commons

Academic Commons 
 

The Academic Commons is a study center located in IL 224. Students are invited to the Academic Commons to study, meet friends, and seek assistance with coursework. The area is open to students during these hours:

     Mondays-Thursdays      9:00 a.m. to 9:00 p.m.
     Fridays                       9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m.

Looking for help with your coursework?
It's available - just stop in or make an appointment to work with someone, at no cost to you! The Academic Commons offers general academic tutoring, a 24 station computer lab, and more!  Home to The Writing Center, Education Department Learning Center, Math Lab, and Science Help Desk, resources at the Academic Commons are available to all students at no charge.

Need supplies for a project?
We'll loan you scissors, rulers, glue sticks, markers, and a variety of other supplies. Forgot your calculator?  Borrow one from us! Need headphones? Stop by and check out a set to use while you study. Copying, laminating, and other services and supplies are available for a nominal fee.

Education students: A variety of materials and resources have been added to the Education Curriculum Library. Most materials are available for checkout. Study guides for the PRAXIS I and many of the PRAXIS II Content areas are available for checkout. Practice tests can be purchased for a small fee. Feel free to browse the shelves and see what's new!  

There are plenty of tables, chairs, and seating arrangements for group or individual study. Bring your laptop - we've got wireless internet access! Everyone is welcome at the Academic Commons, a great gathering place!

MISSION:
The mission of the Academic Commons is to create enhanced opportunities for learning by bringing an array of student academic support services together in a central, visible, and academically-identified location to facilitate seamless access to services for SMSU students and education resources for the wider community.
